The Head of Communications is responsible for the development and execution of the BNP Paribas’ communication strategy. The post holder provides thought leadership & content and develops a communications plan for BNP Paribas and CIB in Portugal, directly managing communications activities that enhance the engagement with its key stakeholders (employees, clients, institutional partners…) whilst develop & protect the bank’s brand reputation. 

      

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Define, validate and implement an integrated communications strategy and plan according to the bank’s objectives
  • Work closely with the C-levels to develop and execute communication activities to ensure that relevant stakeholders (namely employees) are informed and engaged with the bank’s strategy and the business direction
  • Identify and support the bank’s official spokespeople, including Media training. Define a clear editorial line and calendar with key initiatives for each one along the year – act as the bank’s communications expert and official spokesperson in crisis situation
  • Coach and counsel managers in effective communications, developing managerial communications (tools and content) to support them in their management role
  • Manage all the Communication channels (both internal – Echo net, Corporate TV…, as external – Social media accounts, Website...) and support client Communications (Pitch book; institutional brochure...
  • Coordinate Media relations (Press response management; Clipping; Brand awareness studies...) in line with the Group guidelines
  • Design and implement a yearly event plan
  • Lead and oversee the delivery of company campaigns, ensuring that all activities are engaging, impactful, measurable and aligned with the business priorities
  • Define and prepare crisis Communication plan (Business Continuity Plan) in Crisis committee context (internally and externally)
  • Establish and publish communications guidelines for all employees to use, editing all communications written by company executives
  • Manage and monitor communications budget
  • Coordinate the Communication community across BNP Paribas in Portugal
  • Manage the Communications team
    • Recruit and manage a team of staff members to support the development and execution of the communications strategy
    • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality
    • Mentor and develop staff using a respectful, supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis
    • Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals and administer bonus and salary adjustments
    • Lead by example (build-up cohesion and inspire people)
    • People Care (listen and explain, challenge and support people)
    • Risk-Aware Entrepreneurship (promotes innovation, delegate and supervise)

 

 

 

Specialist Experience

 

  • Degree in Corporate/strategic Communications, marketing, International relations, Economics and Management  combined with related professional experience

  • MA or MBA
  • English
  • Experience:
    • 10-15 years of experience in communications
    • > 10 years of experience in team’s management
    • > 3 years of experience in project management roles
  • Requested field(s) of experience: Communications, banking Industry
