New Business Strategy Manager

Job Description

  • lead development of Yandex Market’s long-term new business strategy, based on an analysis of key markets, competitor developments, technological change and long-term customer trends;
  • identify, develop and substantiate new growth opportunities via entering new or adjacent industries;
  • lead assessment of new technologies, products and services and deliver analytically rigorous and data-driven insights that allow the senior management team to make strategic decisions.


  • lead analysis of new markets, competitor development, technological change and changing customer preferences, serving as an input and foundation of Yandex Market’s long-term corporate strategy;
  • drive analysis and research of new areas for growth that will shape strategic and policy decision-making by the senior management team;
  • use appropriate business and modelling tools to provide high-quality research and present well thought-out recommendations to audiences at all levels;
  • commission appropriate research and analysis from internal and external sources in order to ensure that the strategy and new business entry recommendations are based on information of the highest quality;
  • stay up to date with developments in e-commerce and adjacent sectors;
  • partner with cross-functional teams to build-out new business opportunities from concept to business plan stage;
  • work collaboratively with colleagues within the Strategy & Business Development department and establish effective working relationships to produce joint recommendations on policies, strategic issues and new initiatives;
  • provide ad-hoc support to Heads of Strategy, Business Development and member of Senior Management Team.


Specialist Experience


  • masters or graduate degree in general management, economics, MBA as big plus;
  • professional certification (e.g. CFA) as a plus;
  • 5+ years’ experience in Strategy, Business Development or Finance; Due diligence experience as a major plus;
  • professional experience gained through a combination of a professional services firm (investment bank, consulting firm, etc.) and strategy or business development work in the industry;
  • problem solving: proven ability to translate creative ideas into practical reality;
  • strategic thinking: ability to evaluate complex strategic and policy issues with clear analysis and judgement;
  • excellent analytical and quantitative skills, experience in Microsoft Excel modelling;
  • excellent oral and written communication skills, including mastery of Microsoft PowerPoint
  • solid understanding of data requirements and information sources.
