Department overview:

 

 

Fitch Ratings’ APAC Corporate group provides public and private ratings of companies and their debt instruments across the region, on both the international and national rating scale.

 

The department has analysts on the ground in Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Jakarta and Mumbai. 

 

The department is split into four sector teams: Energy & Utilities, Telecoms, Media & Technology, and South East Asian Industrials and North Asian Industrials.  In addition, specialist APAC Research group that is responsible for cross sector thematic research in the region.

 

The Fitch Ratings Corporates group provides public and private ratings on companies and their debt instruments, including — bank loans, senior and subordinated debt, commercial paper and preferred stock.

The group's analytical methodology addresses the legal, regulatory and market environments in over 100 countries in which Fitch Ratings operates, with particular emphasis on debt structure. Corporates group analysts continually expand and deepen their research, combining industry expertise with the finest analytical tools to offer well-informed and timely judgments. This collaboration ensures a more comprehensive assessment of an entity's strategic initiatives, competitive position, financial performance and the overall dynamics of the industry in which it operates.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Undertaking detailed analytical research on major public debt issuers, focusing primarily on industrials, retail and consumer sectors. However, the role will also cover a limited number of issuers in other sectors, including telecoms and media.
  • Publishing timely, topical and high quality research on general market and sector specific trends, contributing to the increasing profile of the agency within the debt capital markets.
  • Conducting analytical reviews with management teams of rated issuers and making written and oral presentations to rating committees, including rating recommendations.
  • Presentation of credit rating submissions at internal credit committees;
  • Communicating with various market constituents, including investors, issuers, bankers and members of the media, regarding the agency’s rating rationales, analytical views and general market trends.

 

Specialist Experience

Qualifications and experience:

 

  • At least 5 - 8 years’ experience in credit/equity research, corporate banking credit departments, investment banking, consulting, and/or other relevant corporate finance roles.
  • Strong knowledge of key corporate sectors and entities in Indonesia with a demonstrable capacity to clearly discern relevant credit issues is ideal.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in the context of report writing and oral presentation.
  • Must be a strong team player and possess excellent inter-personal skills, with an ability to integrate quickly into an established team and to deal with colleagues and external parties across the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Self-starter. The candidate will be expected to show initiative as well as managing and prioritising his/her time and work both independently and as part of a small team.
  • A financial based professional qualification (e.g. MBA/ CA/ CPA/ CIMA/ CFA) would be beneficial.
  • Financial modelling experience.
