Director, Regional Market Insights

Job Description

The position holder has accountability for Cigna International Markets’ market research and consumer insights, spanning key markets outside the US. The objective is to create competitive advantage by delivering thoughtful and fact-based insights from all key constituencies (consumers, Cigna customers, clients, JV business partners, affinity partners and employees), turning them into action that drives profitable growth.



Job Description:


  • Strategically monitor social, cultural and political trends to identify growth opportunities for Cigna International Markets
  • Judge acutely the most suitable market research methods, from quantitative or qualitative to mixed method, to solve business problems pertaining market sizing, consumers and customers, clients and partners, employees, product and premium design, and so on
  • Masterly design and implement market research initiatives
  • Interpret sharply quantitative and qualitative data to generate insights and recommend actions that drive growth and profitability for Cigna International Markets
  • Communicate proficiently to colleagues of all levels
  • Effectively manage research companies to ensure deliverables with completion and quality, deliveries on time and within budget


Specialist Experience


  • Undergraduate degree in Marketing, Market Research, Business or related subject, MBA preferred
  • A minimum of 10 year experience working in commercial customer or client facing roles within large, global, multifaceted organizations
  • Strong understanding of commercial practices and evidence of using research to embed a multi-dimensional customer experience and service culture in a global organization
  • Experience working within a “customer-centric” culture and evidence of participating in the build out of a fully developed customer programs across multiple lines of business and geographies
  • Able to lead and quickly demonstrate credibility as a subject matter expert in customer insights rooted in knowledge and experience, business acumen & successful relationship management
  • An accomplished business driver who combines a strategic mindset
  • International experience with sensitivity around cultural differences from a customer perspective
  • Skilled in influencing those outside of this position’s span of control and across lines of business; clear integrity and credibility in the insights and customer relations arena
  • Ability to work in a matrix team environment across multiple functions and geographies
  • Ability to work effectively in dynamic, rapidly changing , team-based environment
  • Practical business leverage mindset rather than a technical/academic research mindset
  • Excellent Communication and Presentation skills
  • Articulate in English
