Strategy Manager (Sr)

Job Description

The manager (full time position) supports the strategy directors with developing strategies and building business cases by conducting research, identifying opportunities, performing analyses, creating insights and drawing conclusions throughout the project lifecycle. Depending on the type of project and the manager’s level of experience, the manager might be given 100% project ownership and be responsible for overseeing and developing other team members.



Main responsibilities and tasks:

             Supports and/or manages projects on a day-to-day basis and throughout the different project stages (from initiation through implementation)

  • Develops project plans and works with assigned task resources to ensure that the project will be completed on time and according to specifications
  • Initiates, organizes, guides and supports project related activities and works with and through team members to develop and present recommendations to senior management
  • Seeks for external sources and input from subject matter experts consistent in line with the priorities of the group and in support of the different project objectives
  • Liaises with different departments and countries, the region and corporate offices in order to exchange information and to leverage existing material as much as possible
  • Interacts with external advisors and market research and intelligence providers on the outsourced work streams and associated deliverables when and where applicable
  • Analyzes (market) data and synthesizes team members' work stream outputs
  • Researches latest industry trends to stay informed on topics such as trade flow developments, logistics and technology developments, competitors’ performance, offerings and capabilities, developments in customer needs (by industry), etc.
  • Manages, coaches and develops people

  • Project management skills; experience with managing complex projects
  • Considers industry, customer, competitor trends when making decisions: outside-in approach
  • Experience with ‘selling’ project outcomes and strategic concepts to C-level management
  • Experience with managing market research efforts and managing external vendors
  • Experience with and market knowledge of E-Commerce/B2C
  • Basic understanding of E-Commerce/B2C information technology related solutions
  • Able to build strong relationships with both internal and external business partners
  • Ambitious, career minded person who is willing to travel
  • Master’s degree (mathematics, physics, economics, etc.); preferably MBA
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience; people management experience
  • Proven track record in data mining and analytics
  • Proficiency in MS Office, strong in MS Access (SQL a plus), statistical knowledge (a plus)
