Director, Strategic Development, AXA Asian Markets Office (18000B1I)

Job Description

-The purpose of the role is to support regional strategy in line with AXA Ambition through establishing and implementing the strategic and business development objectives for the entities in Asian Markets

-He/she is responsible to develop and manage the strategic planning process and other strategic initiatives for the assigned entities in Asia Markets portfolio. In addition, he/she will assist Chief Strategic Development Officer (CSDO) in managing the portfolio of entities/projects of the Region.

-Scope of key focus: Finance, Customer Engagement, Life, P&C, Distribution, etc.


Role and Responsibilities:


-Actively participate in the strategic business planning process, ensure to have strategic review on the strategies execution of the Entity

-Lead the development and ongoing strategic analysis as necessary

-Review strategic plan and target letters, formulation process with local operating entities

-Work on strategic orientations of local operating entities (together with CEOs/Strategy in charge)

-Provide strategic research and competitive analysis and assessment of the Entity

-Monitor performance of existing businesses, early recognition of pending issues, problem areas or new opportunities and ensuring the business addresses those areas and provide timely advice and support to Entities

-Review business targets to ensure consistency with strategic goals

-Assist in strategy related projects as necessary

-Lead, manage and support assigned projects across the region


Business Development:

-Business Development include Origination, M&A, JV, significant partnerships

-Manage portfolio of business development initiatives

-Recommend and prioritize business development objectives, together with CEOs/Strategy in charge

-Work on negotiation pitches and strategic rationale of business development initiatives with local operating entities (together with CEOs/Strategy in charge).

-Target identification, evaluation, perform screening of external growth opportunities; assess and approve target candidates (valuation, issues/risks etc.).

-Identify & manage key business issues and develop resolution steps for review.

-Ensure timely information and communication to key stakeholders.

-Engage and build the bridge with the Group on regional opportunities.

Specialist Experience

-Master in Business Administration (MBA) strongly recommended

-Actuarial degree in Life or GI is a plus but not a must

-Experience in Insurance or financial services is highly preferred

-Ability to form a reasoned recommendation and persuade others

-High attention to details

-Well-developed understanding of operations and distribution of insurance companies

-Willing to travel frequently
