OEM Customer Product Management

Job Description

Designs, plans, develops and manages a product or portfolio of products throughout the solution portfolio lifecycle: from new product definition or enhancements to existing products; planning, design, forecasting, and production; to end of life.

 

Responsibilities:
• Leads and drives the end to end strategy and operational product roadmap for a product for key OEM customers
• Synthesizes market requirements (MRD) into marketing/customer details through having intimate customer knowledge and business, financial and industry market acumen
• Advises key stakeholders on the portfolio strategy across all phases of the lifecycle (e.g., planning, development, launch, management, exit)
• Creates goal alignment and collaborates across value chain partners to optimize margins and enable success of product per plans across the product lifecycle. (ie. Engineering: product development, Supply Chain: SKUs, inventory and Marketing: marketing and pricing strategies and Go To Market Plan)

 

 

Specialist Experience

Education and Experience Required:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering or related field of study. MBA or advanced degree in computer science or engineering preferred.
• 4+ years of work experience in related field.
• Technical understanding and knowledge of the relevant industry.

 

Knowledge and Skills:
• Demonstrated ability to develop product strategy and lead teams to achieve results.
• Demonstrated skills in cost efficient solution building, financial performance metric creation and analysis.
• Demonstrated business acumen and knowledge of root cause analysis and problem detection.
• Technical understanding and knowledge of the relevant industry and ability to provide product specific technical training to the team.

New Product Introduction

  • Compile and articulate market requirements and business cases to ensure inclusion of OEM customers' requirements needs into existing or new products into and through the product development process
  • Promote OEM customers' needs into Product Approval Committees as needed
  • Participate in relevant product core team meetings
  • Identify gaps in development teams that may prevent successful implementation of OEM customers' requirements

 

Sustaining

  • Identify product issues or lifecycle changes in servers and options that may impact fulfillment of OEM customers' business; identify alternatives and/or escalate to address any gaps
  • Participate in regular meetings with OEM customers to understand any technical issues, identify appropriate owners, and work with them to ensure those issues get addresses
  • Identify gaps in product teams that may prevent resolution of OEM customers' issues

 

Product Roadmaps

  • Keep informed on upcoming HPE product plans to help anticipate how those might impact OEM customers
  • Conduct regular meetings with OEM customers to provide them roadmap updates around relevant products with depth appropriate to time horizon
  • Provide roadmap feedback from OEM customers to appropriate product teams

 

Internal Advocate

  • Understand OEM customers' business and importance to HPE to be an effective advocate for them among product groups
  • Be available to help build relationships with product teams, field teams, and others to help drive OEM customers' business on HPE products
