Global LDI team

The Liability Driven Investment (LDI) business is a distinct part of Global Fixed Income which leverages the breadth and depth of the entire fixed income platform when delivering investment solutions for our clients.  BlackRock has been managing LDI mandates for over 20 years in the EMEA region.  Since taking-on our first mandates in 1995, the business has grown to 251 LDI clients with £189bn1 AUM.  The US LDI business has been managing assets for clients since 2006 and has grown to 217 LDI clients with $103bn1 AUM. We are passionate about designing and implementing fixed income solutions to help pension fund clients globally to meet their long-term investment objectives. We are an investment team of 40 people in London, Gurgaon, New York, San-Francisco and Budapest split across Client Strategy, Portfolio Management and Client Fulfilment sub-teams. Our day to day activities range from monitoring the markets, modelling solutions and formulating the investment proposition, to trade construction, to designing the operational structure of the mandate and working with multiple BlackRock teams to implement it.

Our LDI Client Portfolio Management team in Budapest will form a critical component of our investment success. The team will be involved in the full investment process – from producing investment analysis and putting together client presentations, to designing and implementing the agreed investment design. It will be connecting frequently with Portfolio Management team to ensure solutions stay tuned to evolving market and portfolio management practices. The team will work in close co-operation with Client Fulfilment team to design, agree and implement the required operational infrastructure for each client mandate. In doing so, the team will be engaged daily with multiple BlackRock teams globally, across locations such as London, New York and Gurgaon.

ROLE PROFILE

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform modelling and analysis to help formulate client investment proposition
  • Assist with drafting client presentations and RFPs for new business opportunities
  • Liaise with colleagues within the LDI team and across other BlackRock teams to set up and coordinate client investment activity
  • Draft Investment Guidelines to ensure legal documentation reflects investment intent
  • Review client reporting to ensure the investment activity is represented correctly
  • Help enhance existing processes with new ideas/automation and developing best practices across the global LDI team
  • Assist with addressing ad-hoc client requests

You should have:

  • BA/BS required with degrees in quantitative, finance or economics disciplines preferred
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential; additional European languages are a plus
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • CFA, MBA, IMC and/or FRM or a desire to pursue these is desirable
  • Desire to learn about the Investment Management industry
  • 0-3 years of professional experience
  • Strong attention to detail, a sense of urgency around deadlines and an ability to multitask
  • High proficiency in Excel, with ability to combine outputs from different system sources and manipulate data
  • High proficiency in PowerPoint, with ability to create appealing slides for clients/investors
