Business Development Manager (m/f/d)
Region Hennigsdorf bei Berlin

In this role you are responsible for identifying and evaluating new business opportunities, building partnerships, contracting and negotiation. By managing existing partnerships, you help to ensure smooth project execution and drive growth from our key accounts. You will also contribute to the Strategic Planning process, focussing on new partnering opportunities, and external innovation.

Your responsibilities:

  • Identification and evaluation of new business opportunities in in-vitro diagnostics in the fields of intensive care, infection/sepsis, maternal/fetal health and oncology, in line with business unit strategy.
  • Applying expert knowledge in using market research and competitive intelligence to derive business case inputs and contribute to, or lead, business case development with cross-functional teams.
  • Driving growth through adding licensing, manufacturing or commercial partnerships for proprietary innovative biomarkers and technologies.
  • Contracting (with Legal) and negotiation to establish new business partnerships (in a leading role or as part of a team with the Head of Business Development and senior management depending on the scale of the deal).
  • Cultivation of business relationships and key account management - ensuring open communication, smooth execution of ongoing business partnerships (OEM, licensing) and contractual compliance, and driving growth within the same accounts.
  • Contributing to the identification and evaluation of M&A opportunities.


Specialist Experience

  • Higher education in Life Sciences or Medicine with MD, MSc or PhD (higher education in business / MBA optional).
  • Solid work experience in the IVD industry, preferably in business development, product management/marketing, market development or sales roles. Alternatively, first business development experience gathered in a related industry (medical devices, pharma, biotechnology).
  • Proven track record in technology, product and market assessment.
  • Solid financial skills, IP and legal knowledge.
  • Strong analytical skills; able to structure and rationalize complex decisions; dealing with uncertainty.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiations or complex / project sales.
  • Project management skills and experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer focus; able to influence in a matrix organization without formal authority, and to build and maintain effective internal and external partnerships.
  • English fluent (both written and spoken), German beneficial.
