Senior Manager – Office and Road Safety Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA)

Job Description

Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S), as part of the J&J Supply Chain, is currently recruiting for a Senior Manager – Office and Road Safety EMEA.  Location preference for this position would be in any J&J office or home office in the EMEA region.

 

The Senior Manager will manage a team of direct and indirect reports across a specified geography and multiple business functions seeking to optimize EHS&S resource deployment against strategic objectives.

 

The Senior Manager will be a functional expert in the EMEA region in preventing injuries associated with driving for company business, and other field and office-related activities including dealing with potential office environmental issues.  He or she will partner and routinely interface with country/company commercial leaders in office and road safety, EMEA EHS&S campus leaders, Office COE leaders and their operational teams, Engineering & Property Services (EPS), Facilities Management, Supply Chain, R&D, CLS leadership and external service providers to clarify and agree on roles and responsibilities and support the development of strategies and execute tactical plans that support the health and safety of employees based in offices and in the field in the EMEA region.

 

He or she will lead the EMEA SAFE FLEET teams and Office Safety Network to support a sustainable culture of safety.  This individual must be highly customer-focused and able to effectively communicate and network at all levels and successfully operate in multiple cultures.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Interface with regional Single Points of Contacts, Office COE regional leads, EHS&S Campus Leads and other partners to implement fleet/office safety related strategies/programs and initiatives delivering EHS&S excellence in culture and performance
  • Drive the closure of EMEA CAPAS emanating from 2018 global office internal and external assessments in collaboration with FM and local office personnel/campus leads and roll out/maintain Office EHS&S Playbook(s) for small & large offices
  • Prepare a robust strategy for implementing, managing and executing plans, goals and actions in alignment with fleet/office safety standards and local requirements with an aim at reducing crashes and SIFs within set targets
  • Provide regional subject matter expertise in office safety, to include environmental aspects, and develop innovative solutions for competency building and resource allocation striving to create a COE for best practice in EHS&S office safety programs
  • Establish and manage the regional fleet/office safety EMEA budgets and monitor EMEA team performance through regular fleet/office safety audits



 

 

 

Specialist Experience

  • University Bachelor’s degree, Engineering or equivalent is required.  MA/MS/MBA is preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive EH&S management related experience is required.
  • A minimum of 6+ years of supervisory/leadership Management experience required.
  • General safety, strong fleet/office safety subject matter expertise/experience required.
  • Environmental experience technical skills related to an office setting is essential.
  • Strong typing skills are beneficial for fleet and office safety audits/assessments.
  • Ability to see the big picture yet attend to details is required.
  • Strategic supplier/vendor management/data analysis/operational skills required.
  • Working in cross-regional, cross-sector, and cross-functional team, translating complex situations into simple working solutions, managing complexity, collaborating with all levels of management and influencing decision-makers across a matrix organization are required.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and cross-cultural skills are required.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and creative problem-solving skills required.
  • Must be able to approach difficult situations, treat others respectfully, be open to diverse opinions, and arrive at decisions that are Credo-based, strategic, prudent and compliant with standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong compliance orientation with a focus on end-to-end strategic global/regional process management is required.

  • Resourcefulness, inventiveness and creativity are required to select the appropriate message and vehicle to help J&J operating companies manage their fleet and office safety risks, drive compliant growth and enhance the J&J reputation.
