Our Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) practice focuses on financial services risk management, regulatory, quantitative, technology backgrounds. The breadth of experiences of FSRM professionals enables the practice to coordinate the delivery of a broad array of risk management services to capital market participants throughout the world in a well-integrated manner.
Within FSRM, the Credit Risk and Capital Management Advisory team assists clients in addressing various credit risk measurement and management challenges that range beyond traditional methodology design, ownership and ongoing surveillance roles. These also include more strategic governance issues, portfolio management and reporting, and technology and people processes.

Participate in large scale client engagements. Consistently deliver quality client services. Drive high-quality work products within expected timeframes and on budget. Monitor progress, manage risk and ensure key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes. Stay abreast of current business and industry trends relevant to the client's business.
Identify new business opportunities. Understand Ernst & Young and its service lines and actively assess/present ways to serve clients. Develop and maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Develop relationships with team members across all Ernst & Young practices to serve client needs.
Serve as an integral member of an engagement team by leading many aspects of client advisory projects. This includes management of project work streams, budget and staffing projections, and day-to-day interaction and coordination with client contacts.
Advise clients on a number of credit risk and capital related topics. These areas include: 
  • Credit risk governance
  • Credit policy development and enhancement
  • Loan loss reserve methodologies & provisioning
  • Credit grading system validation
  • Credit risk measurement (asset and portfolio levels)
  • Regulatory reporting
  • Internal reporting and senior management dashboards
  • Credit risk mitigation
  • Credit limits management
  • NPA management process improvement
  • Collateral management process improvement
  • Credit appraisal process improvement

Specialist Experience

To qualify, candidates must have:
  • a bachelor's degree and approximately 3 years of related work experience; or a master's degree and approximately 2 years of related work experience
  • a degree in finance, economics, accounting, engineering or a related discipline; an MBA is  preferred
  • broad consulting and project management skills, effective written and oral communication skills
  • a willingness to travel to meet client needs
In addition to core competencies in credit and/or market risk measurement and management, a thorough understanding of some or all of the following would be an asset:
  • Credit lifecycle within a commercial bank
  • Credit risk management infrastructures
  • Quantitative methods and tools supporting credit risk measurement
  • Economic capital and RAPM
  • Competitive and regulatory drivers for credit risk management
  • Integration of economic capital into performance measurement frameworks (e.g. Risk Adjusted Return on Capital (RAROC), Shareholder Value Added (SVA)
  • Current industry and regulatory issues (Basel II)
  • Knowledge of credit and market risk software (e.g. KMV, Credit Manager, Risk Manager)
