Job Overview

 

Finance Director of South America will report to Vice President of Finance Americas for Automotive Business Unit and will lead FP&A, Price Management, Cost Estimation and Cost Accounting teams.

The Director will be expected to influence decision-making by senior level and Automotive business unit management through persuasive analysis and communication and build effective relations within the business for growth and follow strategy plan. This position will also support others Business Units such as Energy, Appliance, Commercial Vehicles, Industrial, Aerospace and Application tooling with respect to Governance role.

The position will be located in Bragança Paulista, SP - Brazil with some travels in South America and United States.

 

 

 

Tasks & Responsibilities

 

  • Support Vice President of Finance Americas in setting and implementing the vision and strategy for the Finance organization in the Americas and, more specifically, the region.
  • Build credible and achievable financial plans with predictable results.
  • Work effectively as a business partner to the General Manager. Provide insights towards optimizing the business performance.
  • Shape and influence business decisions in the region and support business activity that is aligned with strategic and operating plan objectives.
  • Actively participate in the Americas strategic planning and operational execution.
  • Promote an environment of effective internal controls and compliance with statutory requirements as well as corporate policies.
  • Analyze and actively communicate operational results with recommended actions.
  • Build business models, evaluate cost structures and create decision support analyses.
  • Assess pricing analyses and strategy relative to customers and products and establish appropriate guidelines.
  • Support product portfolio management, including product line profitability and life cycle analysis.
  • Actively monitor working capital, with particular focus on capital spend, inventory, and accounts receivable.
  • Provide guidance on accounting and tax matters, including balance sheet management and general ledger accounts owned by the business/region.
  • Support the development of efficient routines and controls complimenting business processes across all legal entities.
  • Establish thorough understanding of policies and requirements with a proactive audit approach.
  • Manage and monitor the performance management process, providing the appropriate dashboard of financial and non-financial business metrics and analysis.
  • Manage the monthly and quarterly close processes and related controls. Ensure the accuracy, reliability and integrity of financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with policies/procedures and US GAAP.
  • Champion continuous improvement across the Finance function.
  • Collaborative and interaction with Finance Shared Services Organization for functions areas and executions of Operations Finance.
  • Chair Governance Role and provide support to others Business Units towards growth and integration with the aim to further optimize and align overall processes. In this role, her/his responsibility will include collaborative support to all Business Units, ensure compliance matters and an effective communication to reinforce TE´s Values and be an active member on Business Decision support.

 

 

 

Specialist Experience

Educational Degree

 

  • Bachelor's degree or related.
  • MBA is preferred.
  • Internationally recognized accounting qualification (CPA, etc.) is a plus.

 

 

 

Knowledge & Skills 

 

  • Results-oriented who consistent demonstrated record of successfully driving measurable value by serving as a senior-level business advisor in manufacturing companies.
  • Ability to operate in a complex product environment where innovation and continuous improvement are central tenants of the overall corporate strategy.
  • Experienced with and highly effective working in a matrixed environment.
  • Ability to manage a remote team, and is effective in working through language and cultural differences. International experience is preferred.
  • Strong problem solving, strategic and tactical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational agility skills.
  • Demonstrated high level professional interactions with different level of the organization and customers.
  • Proven people management, team development and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Fluent in Portuguese and advanced or fluent English; Spanish desired.
  • Solid knowledge of US GAAP accounting and SOX compliance requirements.
  • Good understanding of Brazilian Tax legislation. Ideally with exposure to tax matters in other South American countries.
