Job Description

The Sr Manager, Strategy and Business Development, Digital is a key leader of the Staples Digital team working directly with the SVP, CDO in developing the overall strategy for the business, driving execution of the plan and developing new channels of business and potential partnership that improve the value equation for Staples Canada Stakeholders. 

A self-starter with a strong business background in eCommerce and the B2B space this role will work across teams at Staples, and our partners developing deep relationships and expanding and exploring opportunities for growth. 



  • Manage and help build the growth initiatives and strategic plan for the ecommerce business, including the strategic planning process and monthly progress reporting
  • Build and execute strategies that focus on driving a better customer experience and add value to our customers as we transform into the working and learning company
  • Manage all major projects from kick-off to launch working with multiple business functions
  • Build case studies / business plans to support future projects \
  • Work with business leaders to develop and define the strategic priorities of the digital business
  • Evaluate and execute projects that complement the growth plans
  • Identify new revenue-generation opportunities that enhance and promote Staples Digital, as well as leveraging the assets and capabilities of Staples Canada’s overall business
  • Actively manage key stakeholder relationships both internally and externally including new sales channels
  • Provide overall project management for key cross business priorities across the Staples Digital organization

  • Travel required, 10% within Canada and USA


Specialist Experience

Knowledge / Skill Requirements:


  • Strong analytical, data-driven decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to navigate large organizations and develop strong business partner relationships
  • Outstanding influencing, communication and presentation skills
  • Self-starter, high-energy, with ability to execute on business objectives
  • Sound business judgment, financial acumen and analytical skills
  • Excited about helping Canadians Work, Learn and Growth 



  • 10+ years’ experience in a related field
  • 5+ years’ strategy / business growth
  • 5+ years’ experience at an eCommerce company
  • Demonstrated success in working within cross functional teams and effective project management and analytical/decision-making skills 



  • Post-secondary education in business, eCommerce or related, or equivalent experience. MBA is preferred.
