VP Sales - East China

Job Description

Morningstar China team is responsible for helping our clients in China build their businesses and provide better outcomes for investors in the market.

The Role:
Reporting to the Managing Director, Morningstar China, the VP Sales – East China role is responsible for exponential growth in the areas in and around Shanghai, that is, East China. This leader serves in a business development and leadership capacity, developing business strategies for the region, growing and managing a sales team while maintaining firm focus on key and strategic accounts, and contributing to the improvement of Morningstar positioning in the region. This leader will work with Products, Marketing, Data and Research to set priorities for addressing market opportunities and executing against the strategy.
  
Responsibilities:

  • Exceed team sales attainment targets and execute strategic growth initiatives
  • Act as the voice of our clients to represent market needs to our Solutions and Products colleagues
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create training, weekly meeting, and strategic planning workshop agendas
  • Represent the regional sales team within Morningstar China’s leadership team
  • Work with other regional sales leaders in China to establish best practices for effective coaching, territory and account planning, and sales efficiency 
  • Manage and develop sales talent for career progression, optimization of coverage, balancing our cost of sales (within budget for compensation, T&E) and avoiding disruption to our clients
  • Accurately forecast team-level data in Salesforce.com and proactively uncover sales opportunities with both new and existing clients
  • Work with sales team on effective client meeting preparation and participate onsite at client meetings where appropriate
  • Be the hands-on sales rep for key/strategic accounts in the region when necessary

 

Specialist Experience

  • Passionate about helping investors achieve their goals
  • Minimum of five years of sales and/or sales management experience in the finance industry
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities and the ability to deliver professional and persuasive presentations and build long-term client relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across products and sales teams
  • Strong leadership, long-range planning, collaboration and time-management skills are essential
  • Understanding of regulatory environment in China and impact on the investment management and advisory
  • Ability to understand complex investment requirements
  • Understanding of, or ability to learn fast about Morningstar capabilities and key intellectual properties
  • Proficient in key productive tools including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, Salesforce.com, Zoom and more
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, verbally and in writing, in both Chinese and English
  • A bachelor’s degree required; MBA or CFA a plus.
