MSD Ballydine develops and supplies the active ingredients and final formulated product for a range of innovative medicines at its manufacturing and R&D facilities. As a Site Procurement Lead within EMEA Pharmaceutical Operations Procurement Team, you will be responsible for executing strategic projects and supporting the site’s operating objectives, ensuring that procedures and processes are securely established to support the growth plans for MSD manufacturing site in Ballydine, Ireland. You will collaborate with senior functional and operational stakeholders to develop and execute global supply and sourcing strategies. In this position you will support the our Manufacturing Division strategic imperatives and will enable our Manufacturing Division core elements of strategy: stability, responsiveness, building biologics capacity, and foster innovation. Site Procurement Lead will provide leadership and direction for procurement activities including the support of site operating and strategic plans. Responsible for planning and conducting negotiations as well as leading and conducting RFx for direct materials projects, coaching and coordinating Indirect Procurement Senior Specialist.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Manages performance and coaches Indirect procurement professional
  • Manages direct materials categories including some Indirect Procurement services
  • Is responsible for developing Site procurement objectives and targets incl. annual Productivity / PPV forecast, working capital conversion / pull through targets, Supplier diversity & Economic inclusion targets, Contract compliance etc.
  • Oversees and supports SSC participation and alignment, proactively flags risks and opportunities to senior management, escalates to Cluster lead appropriately, secures active participation and contribution
  • Is accountable for Buyer Business Plan for local site spend
  • Is responsible for continuous procurement process improvement, increasing personal productivity
  • Interfaces with site’s stakeholders to understand and influence long term strategy considering internal and external manufacturing requirements
  • Engages, obtains sponsorship and influences senior level stakeholders / demonstrates procurement value proposition, creates a delivery plan shared jointly with business stakeholders
  • Develops end to end risk management strategies and performance management & improvement strategies
  • Acts as change agent, demonstrating added value brought by the procurement function. Is a personal example and role model of the MSD leadership behaviors
  • Actively supports diversity, within MSD as well as including, expanding relationships with diverse, SME suppliers
This person will report to EMEA Procurement Lead who is responsible for Pharmaceutical Operations Manufacturing sites.


Specialist Experience

  • Working experience in multinational companies, complex matrix organizations, exposure to international teams
  • 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing / supply chain / direct materials procurement
  • 3 to 5 years of direct materials procurement experience
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, collaboration, problem solving, and conflict management skills
  • Drives results while dealing with ambiguity and complex environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to influence at all levels in the organization
  • Demonstrates capabilities in Strategic stakeholder relationship management, Supplier relationship management, Project management, Cost optimization, Negotiations and Contract management, Financial / Legal / Business acumen
  • Native fluency in English
  • 1 to 3 years of people management experience
  • BS/BA degree in Engineering / Supply Chain or Business minimally; MBA or CPM /supply chain certification preferred
