Role Scope:


The role as Strategy & Business Development Partner for one of the 5 global N&H businesses and to the Technology & Innovation organization is highly critical to N&H success. The position requires a highly qualified, analytic and strategic thinker with strong global business acumen, outstanding communications skills and focus on execution. A person who can ensure the required attention to defining and addressing the strategic and execution issues in the N&H business as well as N&H innovation portfolio, and support the overall strategy and business development in N&H. The position holder will fill a critical role in Strategy & Business Development team and work as a critical sparring partner to the Global S&BD Leader as well as to the Director of the actual N&H BU the position holder partners with. The position holder will work closely with other S&BD partners on strategy process development securing consistent approach across N&H, as well as with R&D leadership on building and executing new growth platforms.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Key player in N&H Strategy & Business Development team
  • Build the business strategy, including 5 year-plan, for one of the 5 N&H business units
  • Build and help execute strategic partnerships with external parties (start-up and universities) for key Technology & Innovation initiatives in N&H
  • Support in the execution of the business strategy including building business cases and prioritizing capital investment and inorganic growth opportunities, especially via M&A, strategic partnerships and licensing
  • Coordinate strategy alignment between industry teams, N&H functions and regional sales organization
  • More specifically over the next 6-12 months:
    • Lead relevant workstreams in connection with N&H strategy process
    • Lead BU strategy process (5  year planning cycle) applying processes consistently with other BUs
    • Lead various Technology & Innovation workshops and engagement with external parties
    • Execute business development projects including strategic partnerships, licensing and equity stakes
    • Develop strong focused list of M&A targets for division meeting N&H growth and profitability metrics

Key COTs:

  • Lead relevant workstreams in connection with N&H strategy process
  • Build BU strategy during the annual strategy update cycle, supported with resourcing plan
  • Build business cases for capital investment, including production capacity, licenses or new products
  • Initiate new business development projects to accelerate revenue growth
  • Engage in projects related to new health benefits, working directly with Technology & Innovation team
  • Support N&H M&A initiatives with Corporate M&A team, including due diligence and valuation
  • Develop focused list of M&A targets with high level valuation, monitor and assess targets’ strategies


Specialist Experience

  • Master’s degree / MBA
  • Approx. 6 years of relevant experience as an analytical and strategic thinker
  • Consulting experience from Big 5 and/or investment banking experience preferred
  • Biotechnology, pharma and/or food specialty food ingredients experience preferred
  • Strong financial & global business acumen
  • Experience in M&A and due diligence is a must
  • Business model design experience including licensing models and joint ventures is preferred
  • Excellent presentation & communication skills
  • Strong project management and change management skills
  • Ability to manage by influence & ensure seamless project execution in a matrixed multinational organization
  • International experience would be an advantage
  • Ability to drive execution whilst maintaining clear customer focus
