Sales Training Specialist

Job Description

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Adult Learning

  • Continuously monitor the adult learning needs of the front line field force with respect to product knowledge, skills and/or continuing development.
  • Based on these needs, and in collaboration with brand and sales management, develop appropriate learning interventions following the principles of adult learning.
  • Ensure the learning interventions align to the selling model in place at the time
  • Measure impact of interventions and drive continuous improvements. 

Innovation

  • Leverage, where it makes sense, new technologies to develop new learning platforms.
  • Establish strong links with global and regional teams to extract synergies and resources.
  • Be on the lookout for new innovative ideas, solutions and programs that will stimulate the adult learning process. 
  • Champion Canada as an incubator for global/regional launches of learning programs.

Execution

  • Develop, plan, coordinate and facilitate training sessions for new Sales Representatives on assigned promoted products.
  • Develop, plan, organize, coordinate and deliver basic and advanced selling skills programs for Sales Representatives, with focus on the Novartis Selling Model.
  • Develop and maintain current training material/programs of promoted products to ensure competitiveness in the market place.

Leadership

  • Be a strategic partner to the brand and sales teams to drive results.
  • Work with brand and sales teams to design, develop and deliver workshops for the Cycle, National Pharma Meeting and new brand launch meeting.
  • Develop a culture of continuous improvement, commercial excellence and sustained learning within Novartis General Medicines.
  • Continually assess training needs via field visits, rep advisory boards, product champions and surveys to provide high quality rep training that will differentiate us from the competition.

 

Specialist Experience

  • Bachelor degree (e.g. Education, Instructional Design, Science, Commerce), Master/MBA degree a definite asset.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with at least 2 years of specialty sales experience and 2 years of managing training projects in a head office environment.
  • Adult learning/behavioural change knowledge/selling skills training experience/facilitation skills/ and instructional design experience are required for this role.
  • Familiarity with educational technology.
  • Strong negotiation and planning skills to manage competing demands and priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written; Bilingualism is required (French and English).
  • Curious about learning science and technology. 
  • Team player with leadership presence.
  • Knowledge and experience of the therapeutic area is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel (15% of the time).
