Regional Manager Business Performance – Limpopo

Job Description

To drive overall business performance and cost management. It includes commercial management, focusing on optimizing performance by integrating financial and business information, providing insights to influence and support business performance and decision making, while reducing financial risk.


Key Accountabilities

Accountability: Drive and Manage Holistic Business Performance within Region.

  • Influence a commercial leadership context by presenting business performance in the context of full scorecard interpretation and analysis, with risk and opportunity identification within Region.

  • Critically assess underlying operational and financial performance in the context of key underlying business drivers (e.g. sales) and providing commercial insights into performance.

  • Analysis of sales and service desk activity, identification of cost optimisation and / or revenue growth opportunities and providing applicable MI for tracking and performance management.

  • Facilitation, coordination and cascading of annual production targets, including ad-hoc adjustments through the financial year.

  • Application of commercial models in the facilitation of target setting.

  • Input into network optimisation, through active involvement in regional investment forum and providing guidance on investment decisions.

  • Contribute to innovative performance measurement solutions and partner with business to evaluate their productivity, enable wise resource allocation and drive intelligent scenario planning (in collaboration with Operations and Finance).

  • Provide progress reports on strategic agenda and execution, short term and long term plans, investments, operational metrics, efficiencies, risks and mitigations.


Accountability: Cost Management

  • Oversight on local vendor/ supplier management in Region to drive cost containment.

  • Perform detailed cost centre management, including overall oversight and administration of all financial transactions.

  • Engagement with branch management on BAU related income statement queries as well as broader financial analyses.

  • Embedment of prudent financial management, including the empowerment/ training of branch leadership to enable capability to self-manage.

  • Drive continuous process efficiency, financial rigour and controls, through collaboration with Finance and Operations teams. 

  • Deliver and implement tactical solutions to achieve short and medium term cost management objectives.


    Accountability: Execute Finance Processes

  • Ensure that Regional management and Physical Channel Chief Financial Officer is kept informed of key financial issues that need to be raised with executive leadership to enable integrity and timely management of the business.

  • Effectively contribute and align to the core RBB finance process (annual planning, forecasting, spend trajectory and reporting).

  • Ensure appropriate, quality and timeous delivery of accurate financial and non-financial management information, including appropriate metrics and insightful commentary in a relevant and appropriate manner.

  • Monthly reporting into Regional Exco and Physical Channel finance.

  • Cost Budget (MTP/STP/adhoc) allocations and redistribution within Region and across branches within framework or guidelines provided by central Cost team.

  • Sales target distribution based on commercial intelligence / data and within framework or guidelines provided by central Sales team.


Accountability: Risk and Control

  • Influence optimal and compliant control environment. Contribute to, and participate in risk forum.

  • Independent assessment of losses, forensic reports to validate write-offs (together with Operations).

  • Overseeing the Regional Office administration from a governance perspective in relation to campaign spend, incentive distribution, vehicles etc.



Specialist Experience

  • B-degree in Finance or equivalent NQF 7  

  • CA (SA) or CIMA or MBA qualification  of equivalent NQF 8/ post graduate qualification an advantage

  • 3 -5  years professional financial management experience

  • 3 -5  years Banking Experience at management level
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Understanding of business drivers (eg sales, costs) and strategic, commercial, legal and operational aspects.

  • Understanding financial services sector with professional business environment.

    Experience in executing finance processes.
