About the department
Strategic Sourcing is the central sourcing unit in Novo Nordisk’s Product Supply division, and we are responsible for the strategic sourcing activities related to Novo Nordisk’s pharmaceutical production sites worldwide as well as global management of suppliers. We organise our activities in sourcing categories through a strong cross organisational category group set-up. Outsourcing & Energy is responsible for outsourcing of drug substances and drug product services, as well as the global energy.
The position
As Senior Category Manager, Energy you will have the strategic responsibility for all incoming energy supply to Novo Nordisk with an overall focus on supply security, cost efficiency and environmental footprint.


The responsibility entails developing and monitoring category related market insights with the purpose of identifying trends and dynamics. This includes preparing analysis on markets, suppliers, spend and materials to ensure identification of opportunities and risks. You will also own and drive initiatives to support savings or optimization benefits to Novo Nordisk.


As part of your role you will act as trusted advisor by building and presenting business cases to key decision makers and top management and you will have a high strategic impact on external suppliers as well as internal key stakeholders.


You will be overall responsible for the development, maintenance and execution of the global energy sourcing strategy as well as coordinating and aligning sourcing activities across the global organization. Furthermore, you will take part in executing tenders, contract and price negotiations. As our suppliers are located all over the world, travel activities must be expected.


Specialist Experience

As a minimum you hold a degree as M.Sc. or equivalent in Business Administration or an MBA in Supply Chain Management or Engineering You have minimum 8 years of experience from working within the energy sector and contract management.


We expect you to have a solid track record and documented skills within setting of prices and analysing risks within the energy sector and knowledge of the key factors, which influence prices of especially electricity. You are confident in diligently balancing financial risk as well as political sources to impact your negotiations.


It is a key factor that you have been developing strategies within energy purchase or sales (preferably within electricity and/or commodities) and that you strike the right balance between the needs of the organisation and the best supply solution for Novo Nordisk. You have an extensive Project Management tool-box which is complimented by your own personal drive and strong executions skills.


To be successful in the role you need to be confident in navigating in complex and dynamic organizations with the ability to build relationships and trust as well as get commitment from both internal and external stakeholders. 


As a person you are known to be a constructive sparring partner and having the ability to impact decision-making at all levels of the organisation.  Furthermore, you have strong interpersonal skills enabling you to communicate at all levels in the organization as well as being able to coach and spar with other team members by sharing knowledge and developing better practices.
