Regional Leader, American Express Meetings & Events Latin America Region

Job Description

This position is responsible for leading the strategic direction, operations, account management and service delivery team for the American Express Meetings & Events organization on a multi-market basis in the LAC region.   The role includes direct leadership of Mexico, Argentina and Columbia teams with 100+ employee, contractors and indirect leadership of remaining markets through partner organizations. The leader will be responsible for the strategic direction of meetings services in all LAC markets for global, regional and country level clients. The role includes executive relationship management in support of global clients with regional programs and local clients with market specific meeting needs and requirements including implementation of the M&E value proposition. The role will report into a VP of Meetings & Events within Global Business Travel and will be responsible for execution of global strategies.  This role will have overall P&L responsibility for the Meetings business in all markets within LAC. Focus will be on driving growth, client retention, client expansion and improving the operational excellence of a large operational team. The role will provide thought leadership and strategic thinking at both a regional and client level. The leader will work within a matrix organization structure to support global functions and work closely with leaders across the Global Business Travel organization. The leader will be tasked with transforming existing business assets to ensure that GBT becomes a Market Leader within the region.   Role is responsible for revenue growth, profitability, client satisfaction, and the overall performance for the region. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a high focus on driving results, motivating teams, leveraging relationships and execution.


Principal Accountabilities:

? Lead the service delivery and operations of the Meetings business across all LAC markets

? Implement the Global Meeting value proposition within the key markets

? Assess market by market capabilities, and leverage regional resources for improved client experience and profitability

? Oversee the ongoing meetings program for clients including strategic plans, quarterly business reviews and key performance indicators.

? Drive revenue and profitability growth at the client, portfolio and regional levels

? Collaborate and work closely with the regional VP and GM of GBT, and the local market GMs to support GBT priorities, cross sell and support the overall success of GBT in the region

? Responsible for operational productivity, client and decision maker satisfaction on a regional basis

? Act as the main point of leadership/relationship for the meetings business, and work closely with the market GMs to drive business growth.

? Operate in a team-oriented environment with a strong sense of responsibility toward team members and engagement objectives

? Act as public spokesperson representing American Express Meetings & Events from an Industry, PR and media perspective


Specialist Experience

? Management of large scale organizations with 50 + employees is required

? Meetings & Events B2B industry experience required

? Demonstrated ability to think conceptually, using strong analytical skills

? Demonstrated ability to drive material growth through new acquisitions and sales expansions

? Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and experience at managing client expectations

? Demonstrated superior organizational abilities

? Ability to lead, influence and motivate others - indirect reports, internal and external

? Outstanding project management skills

? Outstanding presentation skills

? Outstanding supplier negotiating skills

? Demonstrated client relationship skills

? 10+ years of commercial business experience

? 10+ years of Meetings & Events industry experience required

? Bachelor's degree. MBA a plus

? Fluent in Spanish & English
