Senior Analyst, M&A

Job Description

In this role you are responsible for analysing M&A and Assets acquisition opportunities as well as Portfolio performance, and for articulating inorganic investment & acquisition recommendations to Management.  You will be part of a small and dynamic team you will  report directly to the VP, M&A and works closely with the Senior Manager, M&A.

 

 

Your responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and evaluate global opportunities for companies Mergers & Acquisitions and for third-parties’ assets acquisition, and prepare full set of recommendations to Management in terms of business case, strategic fit, market assessment, risks assessment, and deal structure.
  • Lead and coordinate the cross-functional teams involved in those opportunities assessments, and be accountable for end-to-end preparation of presentations & recommendations to Senior Management, in coordination with the VP M&A
  • Screen and evaluate M&A targets as identified by the team, and develop comprehensive financial models when required.
  • Support the team during due diligences of M&A targets.
  • Support the team in managing strategic investment such as O3b and RR Media, and take responsibility in analyzing specific cases as required.
  • Propose & develop new methodologies and tools as required to help the team in augmenting investments’ performances and monitoring.
  • Provide ad-hoc assistance to other SES departments as required, in business planning, deal structuring and investment case evaluation.
  • Provide some training in related finance modeling to new team members or other colleagues when required.

 

Specialist Experience

  • Master degree level in Business, Economics or related field. MBA and/or engineering degree being an additional asset
  • Minimum four/five years relevant experience in a Finance department, Consulting Firm or similar  
  • Some understanding of the telecommunications and multimedia industry, and of the satellite technology and business landscape in particular would be an asset
  • Financial / business planning expertise, with excellent knowledge of Excel.
  • A previous business development experience is an asset.
  • Strong autonomy and independence at work.
  • Strong sense of initiative and creativity.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members and to coordinate team works.
  • Eagerness to learn and understand aspects of SES operations, participations and portfolio of assets.
  • Strong communications (verbal and written) skills and team spirit.
  • Strong analytical & judgment skills.
  • Fluency in english, other languages being an asset.
