Manager, JAPA Reporting & Analytics

Job Description

Global Merchant and Network Services (GMNS) is the Merchant Acquirer, Processor and Marketing partner for the millions of merchants around the world who accept American Express Cards. 

This opportunity is part of the GMNS Strategy, Planning and Development organization, and will support the Client Management and Acquisition teams in JAPA. This position will be responsible for performing analytical deep dives to help Client Managers and Acquisition Managers understand merchant performance and underlying issues. 

You will be responsible for developing the strategy and deliverables for GMNS analytics and reporting in alignment with market and regional strategic plans. In addition you will provide planning & execution of the strategy for the production of GMNS dashboards and scorecards that track the performance of the CLM & Acquisition teams. 

Other role deliverables will include: Creation of robust analytical and business reporting for GMNS JAPA; general analytics and insights; partnering closely with the Strategic and Business Enablement (SABE) team in India by enhancing processes for CLM/Acquisition effectiveness and adapting to the strategic needs of the marketplace and business needs efficiently. 

This is an excellent opportunity to gain deep knowledge of the GMNS organization with varying strategic analytical and reporting needs. 

Responsibilities include: 

Undertake in-depth analysis of key business performance metrics, highlighting trends and identifying implications and opportunities for the business. 
Proactively consult with CLM and Acquisition teams / leadership to develop measurement and analysis methodologies and applications to evaluate the effectiveness of new strategies and tactics to address key business needs. 
Partner and align with various teams including other Regional Planning & Reporting Teams, Finance, Pricing and other GMNS teams to ensure consistency. 
Lead annual processes such as forecasting, planning, target setting and scorecard processes. 
Assist in the evaluation of current reporting, identifying opportunities to drive automation, eliminate redundancies and address reporting gaps.

Specialist Experience

To be successful in this position you will be/have: 

  • Highly motivated individual with excellent project management skills. 
  • Undergraduate degree; MBA or similar advanced degree preferred 
  • Ability to build strong trusted working relationships and experience with influencing without authority. Excellent people skills, including relationship management, communication, negotiation, influencing, presentation, and motivation. Strong collaborator with an ability to build relationships while challenging the status quo. 
  • Strategic mindset, financial acumen, negotiation skills. 
  • Solid understanding of core business processes, experience with process definition, and record of driving improvements in complex, matrix environments. 
  • Ability to operate as a change agent with proven record of delivered results. 
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and understand complex processes, provide meaningful insights and deliver relevant analyses across complex and dynamic business. 
  • Intellectual curiosity, passion for using analytics to develop insights and recommendations, solve business challenges, improve the customer experience, and drive bottom line results. 
  • Able to effectively adapt under changing conditions and prioritize initiatives in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with a strong ability to multi-task. 
  • Programming expertise using SAS, Python and/or Hive and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. 
  • Tableau dashboard development experience a plus. 
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills with customer centric focused. 
  • Passionate, flexibility, good sense of humour and a positive attitude are a MUST.
