Amazon’s Kindle team is looking for a content acquisition manager to help us further increase the selection of titles available in the Kindle store. This contributes to our vision to make every single book ever written, in any language available to customers in under 60 seconds.

The ideal candidate has a track record of strong negotiation and analytical skills, ability to recommend and execute a vision, and build programs and features from the ground up. You must be able to influence across multiple company organizations, be an exceptionally strong analytical thinker and have a history of delivering results. You will establish and drive new relationships and strengthen existing relationships with publishers. You will be customer focused, entrepreneurial, a proven self-starter, and have the demonstrated ability to invent.

Within this Senior Content Acquisition Manager role, you will -

  • Be an expert vendor/publisher relationship manager and communicator, who works closely with publishers to ensure Amazon customers can find any book on the site and have an excellent experience reading it;
  • Be responsible for the performance of the publishers and books you work with;
  • Become an ebooks expert who understands industry trends, competitive environment and readers’ needs and innovates in response;
  • Work closely with leaders across the Kindle organization – locally and globally – in ensuring that we continue to develop new services and product offerings .


Specialist Experience

Basic Qualifications 

  • A University degree, ideally in an analytical discipline;
  • 5+ years professional experience ideally in e-commerce, purchasing, entrepreneurialism, finance or consulting;
  • Track record of innovation and delivering measureable results;
  • Capability with analytical tools and systems: able to process Excel spreadsheets and run database queries;
  • Ability to negotiate with publishers and influence leaders both externally and within Amazon;
  • Strong communication skills and assertive abilities on all levels, while maintaining the ability to be vocally self-critical and seek feedback;
  • Special affinity and demonstrated skill with numbers, analyses and reports including excellent Excel/database knowledge, with experience in SQL a plus;
  • Ability to creatively 'think big' about new ideas to meet customers' needs;
  • Significant personal initiative, creativity, and team spirit;
  • Enthusiasm for the world of books and education;

  • MBA preferred
  • Ability to travel
