The Canadian job market is similar to that in other developed countries. The majority of jobs are in the service sector, with the remainder in manufacturing and natural resources.
In the Quebec region, companies will require excellent knowledge of the French language. English-French bilinguals are in demand as many companies have to do business with both English- and French-speaking Canada.
Occasionally as a jobseeker you may run across a request to apply for a job using a CV (Curriculum Vitae) when you might have been expecting to be asked for a resume.
If the role is in Quebec, the terms CV and resume tend to be used interchangeably. However in Canada’s other provinces, a CV is substantially different from a typical resume. The majority of job applicants should use the standard, two-page-maximum resume - it is what most employers want and expect to see.
